This week's theme was Landscape. I took a few photos on my way to work one foggy morning. I got some of the Rocky Mountains in there and some crisp country landscape in others. Landscape photography is pretty new to me, however, after this challenge, I am going to learn more about it. I really like being able to photograph the beauty I see in my every day travels. Colorado is a beautiful state to live in, there is so much diversity outside and I am really looking forward to expanding my photographic horizons!

I started a new 52 week challenge this week with a Facebook group though Dogwood Photography. Week 1 was self portrait. I set the timer on my camera and learned how to pose myself. It is a lot harder than one would think. It's also challenging to put myself in front of the camera and onto the web. I'm used to being behind it.
I took a photo with the practice swords my husband got me for my birthday with my pointe shoes next to me to try to illustrate both aspects of my life and the balance of masculine and feminine and the strength and softnss of each. Today's challenge theme was opposites. I chose a photo of my two cats, Sahsha and Louis. Louis is a Maine Coon who loves attention and meeting new people. He loves to come out whenever people come over and be right in the middle of the conversations. He will get on the coffee table and lay on his back and stretch out basking in attention and praise. He will talk all day if you listen to him, he's very vocal about what he wants, when he wants it. He will even make objects make noise to display what he wants. For instance, he will tap at the vertical blinds to let me know he wants me to open them so he can sit in the window!
His polar opposite is Sahsha. She is the younger of the two. She is shy, anti-social, and will not ever come out for new people Ever. She will hide in my room and stay there until the house is quiet again. She pretty much only cuddles with me, only sits on my lap, and only lets me pick her up. She doesn't have much to say except when she's bringing a toy out of her hiding spot to the living room, then she meows as if she's saying "look what I got!" The two of them get along surprisingly well, however. They will sleep together, groom each other, and even have each other's back when my mom's kitten comes over to play and gets too rowdy. They are definitely siblings. Opposite in every way, but love each other dearly. This day's challenge theme was Cool. The weather has been straight cold lately, so I won't post any weather pictures. Here is a picture of my tree that I made though. I think it's pretty cool :) I made it out of a coffee container, a hot coco container, a cheese container and another cheese container. I glued them together with a hot glue gun, then I added ribbon around each container. I alternated shiny black and light blue. Then I added black rims on the bottoms to make them look like top hats. After that, I added all the trim; the tinsel, leaves, and lights.
Today's challenge was Make Believe. Here is a picture of a stuffed penguin that my husband and I named Grumpy Cloud because he has a grumpy little face and he feels like what I imagine a cloud would feel like.
Today's theme was inspiration. I find inspiration just looking out the window. The other day I was walking down the hall of my apartment building and saw a shadow on the wall that was really cool looking and wish I would have taken the time to snap a photo of it. I am inspired by driving along the roads in Colorado. I'm inspired by my cats and how photogenic they can be. I am inspired by kids playing and older people holding hands. I'm inspired by my friends laughing and sunsets over the mountains. I love being a photographer because it has opened my eyes to see in a different way. Looking around the world I live in is an inspiration. Coffee also helps, which is the subject of today's theme.
This day's challenge theme was "Tradition" I don't personally have many traditions. But one I do have which is very dear to me is gathering with my friends who are my family. The photos below are the "kid table" They are by no means the best photos I've ever taken, however, they hold a special place in my heart.
Today's theme was "Weather" I took a couple photos of outside my window today since it was so cold and snowy. It was definetly a nice day to stay inside and snack all day with my mom. We don't do traditional Thanksgiving, we just hang out together. My husband's working, and the rest of my family are at their families houses. It was a great day to stay home and relax.
The third photo is my Maine Coon, Louis. He heard the shutter going and decided he needed in on my photo taking today. Today's theme was Spooky! This is one of my favorite themes. You can make just about any photo spooky with the right editing. The mood of a photo can be changed with a little color changing. A photo can be made spooky in camera too with the right lighting. Here are a few examples of lighting tricks I did to make some spooky-ish photos.
