The photos I took for this theme are the reflection of trees in a lake at an open space in Thornton, CO. It was a little breezy so the lake wasn't very still, but the trees still show and the colors of fall are prominent and beautiful!
Today's theme was Reflection. I feel like the changing of the seasons from summer to winter is a great time to reflect on the change within one's own life. As the leaves change color, we change too. Everything about us is constantly changing. From the cells in our body to the reflection in the mirror. Reflecting on ourselves and taking time to recognize the changing of the seasons is a healthy thing to do. To sit and reflect is to get to know one's self better. To know one's self better, we can better love and understand our peers.

This challenge theme is Autumn. I have posted a few fall photos already, but that is the point of a "fall challenge" right? Autumn is very beautiful. I love all the colors that Colorado has to offer when the wheel turns and the harvest time comes. Autumn is a time for death and rebirth. A time where the days get shorter and the trees shed their old leaves to make way for the new.
Today's challenge is "Close Up" I love taking close up photos, it is so much fun! I don't have a macro lens but I do know a nifty trick to make one of my lenses into a macro! I just flip it around so the front is to the back! It's really neat.
Today's theme was Man Made. In this case it's woman made. I had a Halloween Feast on Saturday where I made a lot of food. Cupcakes, cornbread, chili, jalapeno poppers, veggie dip, baked zucchini, and roasted sweet potatoes. All vegetarian. My group of friends get so spoiled by me once a year. I figured this day's theme would be a great way to show off some of my cooking skills.
Today's challenge was Eye. I took a spooky picture of my cat's eye. It's super close up. I did this by taking one of my camera's lenses (the 50 mm) and flipping it around so the front of the lens was up against the body of my camera, making it into a kind of macro lens. That's one of my favorite photography hacks. Macro photography is fun, and with this little trick I have more control of how the photo comes out. I can tilt the lens one way or the other and give it more depth or shoot straight on just to get the macro feel.
"Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." ~Elliot Erwit Today's challenge is Change. I love the changing fall colors here in beautiful Colorado. My husband and I make point to go to Estes Park for day so I can take photos of the colors changing. The first one is the sun shining through a row of trees onto a rooftop. The second photo is taken on the Main drag right as you get into the town of Estes. I love the contrast between the evergreen trees and the golden leaves below. The final photo is another example of the contrast between the changing fall leaves and the evergreen tree. That one was taken out of the window of the restaurant we ate at called the Grumpy Gringo.
Today's challenge was "memory". My favorite thing about photography is that I can capture memories to be cherished and handed down for generations. I can take photos of families that can show to their family and theirs. I love taking photos of events to look back on and remember what a great time I had. Photos of my friends and family just being us. It's absolutely magical. Photography makes these memories we cherish where we can go back and relive them forever.
The photos below are of a few scrapbook pages I made of some of my favorite memories. One is of my beloved cat Indy and the other of my lovely Nana. Today's photo challenge was "family" The close circle of friends that I am so blessed to have are my family. We are there for each other, love each other unconditionally, and help each other with any obstacles that come our way. I have a close knit group that is my tribe. My friends. My family. I hold them close to my heart and they are in my thoughts every day. If that's not family, I'm not sure what is. I am very lucky to have such a family. The photo I took this time is a family of pumpkins that we carved this weekend.
Today's challenge was "faceless self portrait" This was a fun way to get creative and put myself in front of the camera; a position I am not used to.
The challenge today was Black and White. There are many different ways to showcase a black and white photo. One could make it look more vintage like old film, or modern with heavy contrasts and sharp angles and shapes. The way I do black and white photos is through Lightroom. I don't make it a black and white photo in my camera because I have more control over the feel of the photo while I am editing.I can change the mood of a photograph just by switching it to black and white. I can make it more spooky or more old looking. I can make it soft and dreamy or with harsh contrasts. The sky is the limit when it comes to black and white photography.
